Tom Milana is a creative collections entrepreneur with a 20 year track record of building successful credit and collections companies based on his strong sales skills, creative insight into market opportunities, deep experience as an operator and unrelenting drive for success. At present, Milana is active as a debt buyer and entrepreneur, purchasing or financing approximately $1 billion in debt in 2010. In 1996 Milana founded TRAKAmerica, building it into the industry’s leading provider of portfolio scoring and legal network management services before selling a majority interest to HIG Capital in 2009. Today the company generates $100 million in revenue annually, managing more than $5 billion in inventory for many of the largest and most sophisticated creditors and debt buyers in the United States. Early in the company’s life, Milana convinced a top five credit card issuer to become a customer, which permitted TRAKAmerica to build a rich court case experience database. Based on its court case database, the company developed FASTRAK, a proprietary model that predicts the likelihood of successful legal action. The company’s analytic techniques, combined with a disciplined attorney management process and its core asset finding skills, created a uniquely effective legal network management capability and are the foundation of the company’s industry leadership and spectacular growth. Prior to founding TRAKAmerica, Tom founded Asset Management Services, a traditional collection agency. From 1990 to 1998 he built that company from a start up to 75 collectors and $8+ million in revenue through aggressive relationship building and strong collection performance. In 2002, Milana sold Asset Management Services to his partner, Mark Hablenko, to concentrate his energies on TRAKAmerica. Milana retains a significant interest in TRAKAmerica, and is also a principal at Nationwide Screening Services, an employment screening company. After graduating from Fordham University with a B.S. in Finance in 1989, Milana began his career working for a small New York collection agency. He is a member of ACA International and the Debt Buyer’s Association. Tom, married with five daughters, is a dedicated girls’ soccer coach and occasional golfer.
